It may be a little aged, but I still think it's one of the finest series ever. The only one I think tops it is the venerated Macross series (first generation of the Robotech saga). Many a fanfic story had come across my mind, but I felt I couldn't due the series justice. I'm thinking of creating a fanfic of the series, similar to Jack McKinney of the Robotech Saga, where the novels were faithful to the series, and added elements to enhance the storyline in a written format, as opposed to a visual one.
